    MISSION STATEMENT

    Empowering Under-Resourced Youth Through Orthodontics, Education and Community Service.” A Smile for Kids (ASK) has provided “life-changing” braces for more than 700 under-resourced kids in Oregon. ASK recipients are required to have their grades in good standing and perform monthly volunteer service, resulting in more than 1000 community service hours monthly and a graduation rate of 94%.

    MISSION STATEMENT

    Empowering at-risk girls to lead healthy lives: A therapeutic boarding school using an approach blending both traditional and experiential therapies, such as: Accountability Based Cognitive Awareness helps address patterns which influence thoughts, emotions (feelings), choices, behaviors, and decision making. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy offers additional tools and coping strate- gies to help manage the behaviors and issues that are creating stress and discord. Equine Assisted Psychotherapy affords a way to engage youth who are resistant to traditional talk therapy through the use of horses as a medium and metaphor to treatment.

    Down the street, across the country, and around the world. The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.

    Transforming Lives, Strengthening Community
    Assistance League volunteers transform the lives of children and adults through community programs. When essential needs are met in our com- munity, families flourish. Assistance League of Bend is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization making a difference in the lives of children and adults dealing with poverty, homelessness and cancer in Bend, Redmond, La Pine and Sisters. Through Operation School Bell, our signature program, over 2,000 students in need receive new school clothes each year. All money raised in Deschutes County is used in the community.

    MISSION STATEMENT

    Assistance League® of Bend has served Deschutes County, Oregon since 1989. It is one of 120 chapters of Assistance League, a national organization with chapters in 27 states. The chapter is an all-volunteer with no paid employees. All funds raised in the community, stay in the community.

    In fiscal year 2016 – 2017, 137 dedicated chapter members:

    • Touched the lives of more than 5,600 neighbors in need • Volunteered over 18,000 hours to multiple philanthropic programs valued at over $450,000 • Returned over $260,000 to the community • Provided new school clothing to more than 2,000 students from Kindergarten through 12th grade. • Donated over 1,700 handmade hats for cancer patients, the homeless, and low income children • Provided personal care items to 1,400 low income seniors in local care facilities, and donated holiday gifts to nearly 300 seniors in need. • Served Breakfast with Santa to nearly 300 community members including foster children and foster families. • Rewarded 40 at-risk teens from the alternative high school for improved and outstanding school. attendance with restaurant gift cards • Created and distributed 95 memory books for foster children to store photos, school records and personal thoughts

    Bend 2030 is a community-based organization dedicated to engaging the residents of Bend and the surrounding region in our citizen-generated community vision. Our volunteer board engages with lead partners and keeps the community informed as we work together to make the Bend 2030 Vision a reality. As stewards of the Vision, the organization accomplishes its work through:

    Bend-Redmond Habitat builds strength, stability and self- reliance through affordable homeownership for families and individuals in Bend and Redmond. Since 1989, Bend-Redmond Habitat has built 148 homes and repaired 146 more, providing more than 1017 children and adults a secure and healthy home.
